How do I apply for a Police Permit if I need to travel interstate (e.g. travel from Penang to Kuala Lumpur to leave via KL International Airport)?
- Step 1: Download and fill in the Police Permit application form (Conditional MCO) (during Conditional MCO) or Police Permit application form (MCO) (during MCO). [Explanation in English]

- Step 2: Visit the nearest police station.
- Dress conservatively and appropriately. No slippers. No shorts. No singlets.
- Bring:
(1) your passport,
(2) two photocopies of your passport personal details page*,
(3) two copies of completed Police Permit application form* and
(4) any supporting documents (e.g. flight ticket, medical appointment, etc.)
- When you are at the police station, explain that you are a foreigner and would like to apply for a police permit to travel interstate because of X (e.g. leaving Malaysia via KL International Airport).
* Different police station may have different requirements. Some require 2 copies of the application form for each person; some only require 1 copy. Some require a photocopy of your passport; some will take a photocopy of your passport when you are there. To save yourself possible delay, be over-prepared.
Tip: If you experience difficulty at one police station, try a different police station.
- Step 3: Take a photo of your approved Police Permit. Upload to Dropbox, Evernote, etc. to keep a digital copy. Just in case.
